Best of the Area is the Iowa City Press-Citizen's annual citizen vote on the best aspects of the greater Iowa City/Coralville area.

This year, we have expanded voting to more than 60 categories, ranging from restaurants and food to shopping and senior activities.

Sushi lovers have a lot of options in the Iowa City area, but Takanami has taken the Asian market by storm since opening a few years ago on Iowa Avenue. An 800-gallon saltwater fish tank and a 15-seat sushi bar make the restaurant a beautiful place to enjoy a meal.There is spacious seating, an extensive, world-class wine list and beefy entrees to complement the light seafood fare.
