Best of the Area

Best of the Area is the Iowa City Press-Citizen's annual citizen vote on the best aspects of the greater Iowa City/Coralville area.

This year, we have expanded voting to more than 60 categories, ranging from restaurants and food to shopping and senior activities.

It’s no secret that Best of Area voters tend to favor the locally owned establishments. Strip away that bias and you are left with the area's favorite chain restaurant, the Olive Garden, a perennial favorite that got even got votes for best Italian restaurant years before it opened in Coralville. A huge menu of Tuscan-inspired Italian food is a huge hit with patrons.
