Best of the Area

Best of the Area is the Iowa City Press-Citizen's annual citizen vote on the best aspects of the greater Iowa City/Coralville area.

This year, we have expanded voting to more than 60 categories, ranging from restaurants and food to shopping and senior activities.

 

Best Italian Food

Givanni's

In the hyper-competitive Italian restaurant category, Givanni’s has for the third consecutive year. Paintings by Ulfert Wilke adorn the walls, which are made up of exposed brick first set in the 1880s. As with all Mondanaro family restaurants, Givanni's prides itself on fresh food made from fresh ingredients. Pasta favorites include the spinach ravioli with grilled shrimp in a lemon-dill cream, a hearty fettuccini alfredo and the vegetarian linguini caprice.
